Continually doing what others won't, so you can achieve what others can't.
Legacy Hill
That’s a brief video of me carrying a rock up “Legacy Hill” during a grueling 72 hour men’s retreat.
Climbing over a mile in distance, after days of other physical/mental challenges — the rock felt heavier than a strongman competition boulder, the hill was a in fact the side of a mountain & this event was much different experience than what most think of when they hear the world retreat lol
During this 72 hour retreat, the attendees are mentally & physically tested in strategically designed challenges referred to as evolutions. Each evolution has a specific set of rules and if not followed, you’ll face the consequences.
The Legacy Hill evolution is simple.
Pick up a rock, carry it up the mountain, do not put down the rock and make it before the cut off time.
Apparently, the morning of this particular evolution for each retreat, the Host, always sets out enough rocks for each attendee. Then, he always adds in this deceivingly dense rock to see if anyone will choose to carry it up the mountain.
After dozens of retreats, no attendee had ever chosen the 4-5X heavier rock to carry up Legacy Hill.
Then, there was me.
I vividly remember I was the last in line to choose the rock and noticed there was a choice. A choice of a rather small rock or the one you see me struggling with in the above video.
As I leaned over to choose my rock, I hear the host say, “Yeah, I figured you were like everyone else too & wouldn’t grab the bigger one.”
Without hesitation, I grabbed the larger small boulder and said, “I wish it was bigger.”
As I reflect on this experience and sharing this story - I can confirm, I do not wish it were bigger lol, but in that moment I knew what had to be done.
I had to pave the path.
Not out of spite or ego.
But rather to prove a point.
Not to anyone at the retreat, but rather to myself.
One step at a time, I will be in control of my Legacy.
Insanity
The definition of insanity is doing things repeatedly, expecting a different result.
In life’s journey — we are consistently tested along our path. These check points determine the legacy we build for ourselves and ultimately, what we embody in our souls.
At these particular checkpoints, it’s easy to negotiate.
It’s easy to compare what everyone else is doing and believe their values, beliefs & standards are aligned with ours.
We negotiate.
As I climbed Legacy Hill, with the rock piercing my neck and shoulder — my brain was negotiating the entire time. It would suggest things such as, “just set down the rock. It’s OK, everyone else’s is much smaller. They will understand.”
In these negotiations, we slowly pave someone else’s path, rather than our own.
Then, we over compensate these negotiations with low frequency emotions & label ourselves as depressed, anxious & misunderstood.
Do the shit you say you’re going to do.
Finish the challenge.
If not, you will go to bed to sleep, but never get rest.
It’s a patterned path, that leads to insanity.
What are you negotiating right now in your life?
Whether it be the job you hate, the crucial conversation you are resisting with a family, friend or significant other, maybe the money you’re working your ass off for, the investments you are not committing to— or maybe don’t enjoy like a lousy traditional retirement account, which will probably be used to pay medical expenses or too old to even care about).
A life of negotiating does not lead to a life of legacy.
It leads to doing all these things for nothing.
All For Nothing.
This is the common theme of those at their death bed — regret
Happy
Comparison is the thief of joy.
As I climbed the final summit of “Legacy Hill”, I remember to tremendous amount of support I received from the other attendees — cheering me on until I had the honor of burying the boulder at the top, as a reward of paving the path.
As I again reflect on this experience, I remember how happy each of us were for ourselves & others in completing the evolution.
Not because it was physically and mentally difficult, but due to the fact we were all individually focused on paving our own paths, regardless of the size of someone else’s rock.
This is the problem.
We get too caught up in what someone else is doing online. We are persuaded & brainwashed to think & worship their way is the only path.
Sure, maybe it is… for them.
The consistent comparison path is exhausting.
You’ll never carry a pebble up your own Legacy Hill, let alone a rock.
Legacy
Since 2020, the USD has lost over 25% of its value.
If we are not consistently building upon a strong, rock type foundation in our finances, we too will pave a path, All For Nothing.
My community is not focused on comparison.
We are focused on building and paving the path of our own life’s legacy.
This is why my proven, algorithm trading bot is named The Legacy Bot.
It’s consistent.
It’s designed to not negotiate the #1 goal.
Although past performance does not indicate future returns, its sole purpose is designed to gain consistent, conservative & profitable returns.
