Criticism
To those who have had a lot to say about me, are you ready for me to share what I think about you?
In today's fast-paced digital world, it seems like everyone has something to say.
When was the last time you let someone’s words sink in, yet realized you would never take advice from that person in the first place?
Whether it's from a stranger online or someone closer to us, criticism can be overwhelming. While it's trendy to claim you are not affected by someone’s opinion on social media, the truth is we all care about people’s opinions to some extent. But let’s be honest: not every opinion carries the same weight, or any in most instances.
Most people let criticism become a crippling crutch that hinders them from overcoming adversity. Criticism, like a hurricane, can be biblical devastation.
But remember: their chatter says more about them, than about you.
The truth is, irrelevant opinions come from those who have never walked in your shoes or stepped into the arena where you battle daily. It’s much easier to criticize from the crowd than to work hard and risk failure while striving to achieve something great. If anything, we are more alike than we are different.
I’m reminded of a powerful story from the Bible, where Nehemiah set out to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. The critics were loud and relentless, mocking his every move and trying to sabotage his efforts. But Nehemiah stayed the course, trusting in God’s plan rather than engaging with the negativity around him. He kept building, stone by stone, and the walls were completed.
Nehemiah 4:14 reminds us:
"Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."
Criticism offers a chance to gain perspective and helps you better understand your core values. If your values are not critic and challenged, then you will do a bunch of things in life All For Nothing.
This verse highlights the importance of keeping our focus on what truly matters and trusting that God is working behind the scenes to unveil the truth. When we are patient in the face of criticism, we experience peace. When we are patiently awaiting and trusting — God is working.
The truth is, my path forward is guided by a higher calling. I'm here to work, to grow, and to build—no matter how loud the noise around me, I will stay the course.
There is only two ways to avoid criticism:
1. Do Nothing
2. Say Nothing
The outside voices will come and go, but remember to listen to the one that has been with you throughout the entire journey.
Stay in the arena, stay patient, and God will handle the rest.
Stay blessed.
